I shop therefore I am de Barbara Kruger est l’une de ses oeuvres les plus célèbre parmi ces nombreuses sérigraphies. Dans cette oeuvre, elle détourne une imagerie publicitaire
qui fait également écho à René Descartes. Ici il s’agit à nouveau d’un détournement mais cette fois-ci de l’oeuvre de Kruger, en décalage complet entre support et visuel: ce même
visuel à été, par les possibilités d’Internet et du tout personnalisable, apposé sur le support de ma propre carte bleue, l’utilisant ainsi au quotidien depuis le 27 avril 2015.
Depuis cette date et jusqu’à l’édition de l’ouvrage, j’ai effectué plus de 56 achats pour un montant de 467,62 euros, que j’ai à chaque fois photographié.
Cette oeuvre-performance, matérialisée par cette carte bleue, se trouve actuellement dans l’acte quotidien de consommation, jusqu’à la fin de validité de la carte, en septembre 2016.
Alors l’oeuvre sera enfin dans l’objet en soi.

Barbara Kruger’s I Shop Therefore I Am is one of her most famous screen-prints. In this work, she subverts an advertising image which also echoes René Descartes. Here we see a new
subversion, this time of Kruger’s work, with a complete divergence between medium and image: this same image has been applied, exploiting the possibilities of the Internet and personalisation,
to my own credit card, and in that shape has been used daily since 27 April 2015.From that date and up to the publication of the work, I made over 56 purchases in the total amount of €467.62,
photographing each one.This performance-work, concretised by the credit card, now exists in the daily act of consumption, until the card’s expiration date, in September 2016. The work will then
at last be an object in and of itself.
