Les "dates paintings" sont l'oeuvre majeure de On Kawara, artiste conceptuel japonais.Chaque jour était une oeuvre résumée à une date, un travail sur l'éternité. Son décès le 10 juillet 2014 est donc juste une page non inscrite puisqu'il n'a pas pu faire de tableaux ce jour-là, J'ai pris soin de marquer cet événement comme une date importante dans l'histoire de l'art contemporain, mettre une date physique finale à une éternité.

The ‘date paintings’ were the key work of On Kawara, Japanese conceptual artist. Every day he lived was a piece summed up by a date, illustrating his work on eternity. His death, 10 July 2014, appears as an unwritten page because the artist was necessarily unable to create paintings that day. I was careful to mark that event as an important date in the history of contemporary art, to put a final physical date to an eternity and thus allow the viewer to question again this artistic icon and the concept of temporality inherent in human life.
